The Tennyson Riverside Development
The development consists of:
- The Queensland Tennis Centre - tennis facility.
- Tennyson Reach - A premium residential precinct of high quality apartments.
- Extensive public landscaped parklands, bikeways and pathways for jogging and walking.
The site covers 12 hectares with over 400m of north facing river frontage - approximately half of the site is utilised for the Queensland Tennis Centre and half for the associated residential development and parklands.
The provision of the residential development allowed the Queensland Tennis Centre to be delivered at minimal cost to the Queensland community.
The Queensland Tennis Centre
The Queensland Tennis Centre includes:
- A 5500 seat international standard plexicushion centre court, Pat Rafter Arena, with corporate facilities.
- A total of twenty-three International Tennis Federation standard match and training courts including two grass courts, four clay courts and sixteen plexicushion courts.
- Administrative, commercial and support facilities including change rooms, pro shop, café, media facilities and function rooms.
- Administrative offices for Tennis Queensland.
Designed by internationally recognised stadium designers HOK Sport and Venues and Mirvac's in-house architects, Mirvac Design.
Tennis legend John Newcombe has participated in the design process to ensure the best outcome for players, coaches and spectators.
Home of the Queensland Academy of Sport’s tennis program. Queensland Tennis Centre is a Stadiums Queensland venue managed by Tennis Queensland and operated by UQ Sport.
Tennyson Reach
The associated residential development consists of:
- Approximately 390 luxury apartments in six buildings.
- Extensive public landscaped parklands, bikeways and pathways for jogging and walking, providing public access to this stretch of Brisbane River for the first time.
Developed by leading national property company Mirvac with over 37 years of integrated property experience.
Timing
The Queensland Tennis Centre – Construction commenced in March 2007 and was completed in December 2008 in time for the inaugural Brisbane International.
Tennyson Reach – Stage 1 comprising the Softstone and Lushington apartment buildings is complete. Construction of Stage 2, the Farringford apartments, commenced in November 2007 and is on track for completion in the first quarter of 2010.
Parkland - The first stage of the public parkland will be completed in early 2010
